This small village, Besalú, took us almost 3 hours to discover. You can easily walk around the village in less than an hour. But, the views are fascinating, that you can easily spent a day only taking pictures of the bridge. We visited this lovely place more than a year ago, when we made a little getaway through best places of Costa Brava. Besalú is that kind of village that you immediately feel at ease in. Charming medieval streets, welcoming locals and great seafood that you can find here everywhere make you feel at home.

At the first tank of fishes our kids were so excited, as the little one began to talk and scream of happiness. They were happy to see such big amount of fishes at Aquarium. Damian was running there back and forth from one tank of fishes to another till he discovered the tank of coral fishes. And he found NEMO… a lot of NEMOs. That moment was too funny, as he remained spellbound. What to say, for both our kids, it was the happiest moment to see a lot of colorful fishes at that tank. Apart of Nemo, both of them liked Lionfishes. These unusual form of theirs, made both our kids to take a rest and look at theirs water dance.

After few time at submarine we went to take a rest at the bar situated next to the submarine. Very cozy and clean bar, with a big variety of food to offer. From a burger, to a big variety of ice creams. Even we have seen smoothies to sell there.

After a little rest, we went to see Penguins. But far greater surprise waited us… there were families activities with mentors who fed penguins and helped us discover penguins life in a familiar way.

Another great activity to do at Aquarium de Barcelona is experience with sharks. Children from 8-12 years old can sleep at at the aquarium with sharks view. This way the kids find how sharks behave and what these do when night falls. I think it is an amazing experience, and our kids for sure will do once they grow a little more. Below is a photo by Aquarium de Barcelona for sleep with sharks activity.

By walking through the whole aquarium, one can really appreciate how unique the marine world can be in different parts of the world and provide a great insight into the mysterious underwater kingdom. Definitely a must-see and must-go place!

Sagrada Familia or officially The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família is one of the must-see place for any traveler while in Barcelona. Solo, couple or family traveller. If you plan to go with your kids, choose a sunny day, to enjoy more of Sagrada Familia. Try to visit The Sagrada Familia early morning or late afternoon when the reflections of the sun magnify the structure of the cathedral. It is perfect time when your kids will enjoy the colorful church.

sagrada familia (2)

The church began its construction in 1882, and one year later Gaudi headed the project. Being a very complex project, this iconic church had its’ ups and downs. The latest news, tell us that Sagrada Familia will be finished by 2026.

2016-07-30

The church’s four sides are called façades. Each side communicates an aspect of biblical history, telling the story of Jesus, his family and his disciples. Unlike the façade, with its striking carvings, the inside is sleek. White stone painted by colored light from the elaborate stained glass windows all around the room. Throughout the church are depictions of important moments in Catholic history. Everything in the church symbolize something. From the Spires (when completed will be a total of 18), the three entrances, towers, every carving and every detail.

Prices:

  • General price for visiting Sagrada Familia inside is 15EUR, for those who are less than 30 years is 13EUR, and children under 11years enter for FREE.
  • Experience with panoramic view (enter Sagrada Familia, audioguide and towers) – general ticket is 29EUR, under 30 years – 27EUR and children under 11 years enter for FREE.

These prices are from Sagrada Familia official website. If you choose to buy your tickets right there, then you will pay more, as the prices are higher.

I recommend you to buy online. There is one queue for those who buy online and others who buy tickets right there, which is larger.

Opening hours at the Sagrada Familia:
November to February – 9 am to 6 pm

March – 9 am to 7 pm
April to September – 9 am to 8 pm

This weekend I thought to write about our experience of travelling in a car with a toddler for 9 hours. We went to Blois a lovely city in France, 900km from Barcelona. I propose you 5 travelling tips, that will help you to have a nice trip in your car.

blois7

5 tips for travelling in a car with a toddler:

  1. Pack the car before you put your toddler in the car, and prepare child seat accordingly. To help your kid relax during the trip and have enough space to feel free. Here it is important to dress them well, and properly to the weather you travel.
  2. Pack essential items to be easy to get during the trip. Bottles of water, wet-wipes, tissues, and some toys to play.
  3. On long trips, as ours was, consider travelling through the night or early in the morning. When your toddler is more likely to sleep during the journey.
  4. Pack with healthy snacks. Even if they are not hungry, they feel bored and need some distractions during the trip. Keep a special bag for rubbish after eating snacks.
  5. Stop at service stations or rest areas every two or three hours. Let the kid stretch his legs and go to the toilet. This advice is more if you travel on a highway.

After a 9 hours drive we finally get to our final destination Blois. A lovely place situated 900km from Barcelona and 200km from Paris. We were tired and our main reason was to spend the time with friends and not as much as to visit the city. Due to few time we had, we managed to see some of the city center parks, and go by car to Le Château du Clos Lucé – Parc Leonardo da Vinci.

Blois historically was the residence place of kings: Francisco I, Francisco II, Enrique III. We took a walk through the central parks, and walking by Hôtel de Ville, we saw a famous monument of Jeanne d’Arc. From these gardens, opens a gorgeous view over the city and the river that pass by the city.

Leonardo da Vinci park impressed us with the beautiful gardens, great inventions of Leonardo da Vinci from that time, and gorgeous house of him.
