10 movies to watch with kids on Disney Plus.

It is our second week of lock down here in Barcelona. First week, kids were enjoying more our time all together, and were always open to new ideas and things to do without screen. But after all they got really bored of everything, and the only thing they are happy about is watching TV.

It is sad that every day we have a part of remote work, to be teachers and try new things to do with them. Lucky enough this week, Disney Plus activated their app here in Spain, and we subscribed to them. The best thing about it is that we, as parents, know that they watch something qualitative and we can control what they watch.

Now, I would love to share with you 10 top movies to watch on Disney Plus, that not only kids will enjoy, but you as a parent too.

Top 10 movies to watch with kids on Disney Plus.

  • The Lion King

The best animated movie ever in my opinion. The story is about little lion Simba who idolizes his father and wants to be like him when he grows up. But, unfortunately life shows not only the best moments but as well the bad moments of this kingdom. Simba, after his father’s death must figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

  • Aladdin

Unfortunately, the new version is not on Disney Plus. So the newest is from 1994, but anyway it is about a love story. Love to the princess, love to the kingdom, and love to the people who live on that beautiful piece of Earth. But as in any other movie, Alladin must embark on a very dangerous mission to stop the evil that comes to the Kingdom.

  • Cars

I don´t know your kids, but Damian, our oldest son, watched it at least 5 times. And he even knew the words, what the actors would say. The quality of this animated movie is everything. McQueen, a racing car, learns a hard lesson in life when he damages a lot of property in Radiator Springs. His task is to repair the damage done before he can get back on the road.

  • Up

This animated movie is on my list, only because everybody talks a lot about it as being a great movie. I haven’t watched it, but I really want to. Carl, an old widower, goes off on an adventure in his flying house in search of Paradise Falls, his wife’s dream destination.

  • Moana

I watched this movie twice, but wouldn’t dare to watch it again. Moana, daughter of chief Tui, embarks on a journey to return the heart of goddess Te Fitti from Maui, a demigod, after the plants and the fish on her island start dying due to a blight.

  • Lava

I was always amazed by life on tropical islands. And in my imaginary dreams I live a really beautiful life, without any worry. With the beauty of tropical islands and the allure of ocean volcanoes, a tropical love story evolves over millions of years.

  • Ratatouille

Remy, a rat, aspires to become a renowned French chef. He doesn’t realise that people despise rodents and will never enjoy a meal cooked by him. When I watched this movie, at the first sight I didn’t like the idea that a rat was preparing the food and so on. But, then I just thought that the author of the story wanted to share something more with us. We, people, are used to judging other people for not being like us, in this case a rat is not a human, it is not like us. And people love his creations until they find that it is not like us. Everyday we find similar situations in our life.

  • Coco

We watched this movie with kids 3 times, and every time I was amazed by the beauty of this tradition in Mexico. I even asked my Mexican colleague if it is so colorful and flowerful like it is shown in the movie. The answer was yes. Coco stumbles into the Land of the Dead, where he learns about his great-great-grandfather who was a legendary singer.

  • Mulan

I haven’t watched the movie yet, and the new version is not on DIsney Plus, so only the old one. But, I was amazed by the story behind this movie. Mulan to save her ailing father from serving in the Imperial Army, disguises herself as a man to battle northern invaders in China. How strong is the love to her people and her country, that she goes for this?

  • Mary Poppins

I watched only the second part, and both me and Damian enjoyed it. A story where a nanny with super powers comes into a family to help kids not to lose their happiness and believe in magic. As sometimes in our lives we have to create the magic on our own.

Let me know in the comments your top movies to watch in this lock down period.
