Our windsurf experience in Barcelona. How we enjoyed our beginning windsurfing classes in Barcelona.

Windsurfing was on daddy´s top list for years. This year, we finally did the beginning course of windsurfing and were so happy of the new experience.

There are tons of sports that are hard to learn. Snowboarding, rock climbing and the list goes on. Windsurfing seems to be a hard sport to learn as well, but no, it just requires time and patience. Once you get the principles, you get pretty much immediate results. Here to say you can start off pretty quick and sail back and forth on short distances from the beginning.

First two days of classes, there was no wind in Barcelona. We were very upset of this, but our teacher told us that we are lucky enough. As, on such days it is easier to learn and understand the basics of windsurfing. And on the last day of classes of windsurf, it was such a windy day. That we enjoyed our time on the water so much. We sailed there and forth and were pretty happy of the experience.

Our first lesson started on shore. We used as well such called ¨land simulator¨ where a board on land can pivot about with sail movements. We learnt how to adjust the equipments before going on the water, tried simple staff, like moving the sail, how to make turns, coordination. The importance of strength and technique, as then not to have complaints about the pains in the back.

As well, we understood how the wind is moving, how to catch up the direction of the wind while on the windsurf and so on.

Windsurfing is an extreme sport. We saw, people doing windsurf who are doing pretty extreme things. I suppose those are professionals, not like us. The beginnings however are very safe. If you keep to some essential safety principles you will not get into dangerous situations.

The gradual improvement of one’s windsurfing level allows you to develop a vast amount of experience at each stage which provides you with a good knowledge of what conditions you are capable of handling. We were staying in a very safe zone, and apart, our teacher was all the time by our side, mentoring us. I am not sure, if I would consider to take the windsurf by myself and go anywhere without a support.

What we liked about our beginner windsurfing course, was that, it does not require any specific skills or previous experience in sailing. Through practice and training, falling and achieving, we had many unique experiences that helped us to learn windsurfing. At the end of every class, we were tired. But we were persevering, felt tons of times and then got back on board. It was an amazing experience to learn to trust ourselves. And the see the real power of success in no times.

After every class we were so tired of the day of windsurfing, that we have had a very good sleep at night. We did a great workout. Almost every muscle in the body is used while windsurfing, at some point (arms, shoulders, back, core, legs).

The most essential part of any sport is that is has to be fun. It was funny enough to fall into water tons of times, then getting on board and begin once again the game. Then, it was fun to not fall in water, and to stay stable on the board, enjoy the waves, wind, freestyle that windsurfing can offer.

The course itself gave us so much adrenaline, happiness and that feeling that you are different, you are improving and get better.

We haven´t had wind on the first day, but our teacher told that it is even better, as with such weather is great to learn first. Then with wind, is better to practice.
