Top 15 places to visit with kids in Barcelona

Guys, there is some time I haven’t written about Barcelona. Today I thought about writing a series of posts about how to live in Barcelona, and not only to travel to Barcelona. Or better said, a complete guide of how to move to live in Barcelona. What do you think, would you like to read it?

But before taking all ideas, and not to miss anything on my writing time, today I propose you top 15 places to visit with kids in Barcelona.

Barcelona ́s beautiful landscape, the breathtaking sights, and the mild Mediterranean climate make it one of the most attractive destinations that every person must visit at least once in his life. Many tourists come to this Mediterranean gem due to its impressive architecture, which combines medieval buildings and modern buildings. The famous Catalan architect Antoni Guadí has left deep traces here. Take a look at my list of the most popular Barcelona attractions for kids and make your trip with kids truly unforgettable !

  • Sagrada Familia

Basilica de la Sagrada Família is one of the most famous sights in Barcelona. In 1883, Antoni Guadí was commissioned to design the basilica as a neo-Gothic church. Instead of following the original plans, he designed the building in the modernist style.

The queue is really large to get inside, and especially in summer time. So, we advise you to get your tickets online and to get faster inside. The entry price is quite expensive, but it worth it. Believe me, your kids will be fascinated of the colors that are inside the church.

  • Gothic Quarter

Gothic Quarter is an amazing place to walk with your kids. Old buildings make this place very beautiful. Every corner will be just spectacular to take a shot. The gothic quarter is a labyrinth of narrow, winding lanes and streets that turn it into a truly magical place.

Here you can enjoy some quality time at Cathedral of Barcelona. Another priceless church, that every tourist has to see it.

Enchanting atmosphere to walk around with your kids.

  • Montjuic Castle

Castell Montjuic and Grounds. Montjuïc is a famous hill with many museums and a beautiful natural park with great views of Barcelona. If you are keen to enjoy much more of the city, then we can recommend heading up above the city and go to the Castle Montjuic and surrounding gardens, followed by a visit to the Magic Fountain.

Magic Fountain won’t ́t leave unimpressed any kid.

  • Tibidabo

Tibidabo actually is an amusement park for kids, that is settled on the hill of Tibidabo. This fact makes the place enjoyable not only for kids, but also for tourists, due to spectacular views over the city that opens there.

  • Parc Güell

Park Güell is the paradise for kids living in big cities. It is another work by the famous Catalan architect Antoni Guadí and is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Built between 1900 and 1914, this surrealistic park is a charming place that displays the extraordinary mastery and creativity of its creator. I am not surprised that almost all the tourists want to visit this place.

  • Bunkers el Carmel

Bunkers el Carmel and it is situated in Gracia, close to Parc Guell. Hiking there is just priceless. Lately it became the most instagrammable place for tourists. Bunkers del Carmel were built during the Spanish Civil War for the inhabitants of Barcelona. Then the city was bombed and these bunkers were supposed to protect the civilian population. After the end of the war, the shelters were abandoned and left empty.

  • Parc de Ciutadella and Arc de Triomf

You will ask why I write 2 places in one line. But, here I will say, Arc de Triomf will be for you as a parent and Parc de Ciutadella is for your kids. Both places are close to each other, and it is a must see place for everyone. This has a number of interesting buildings, including the museum of natural science and the Barcelona Zoo.

  • Casa Milà (La Pedrera)

When we visited this place, Marc was so small, I think he doesn’t remember it, but Damian already understood a lot. And he loved it. The UNESCO listed building Casa Milà is the most famous work of Antoni Guadí. Casa Milà is also called “La Pedrera”, which means “quarry house” in English. Built between 1906 and 1912, this extravagant residential building looks much more like an avant-garde sculpture than a functional building. Its natural stone facade is characterized by oval, wavy lines, rounded windows and metallic balcony railings that have plant-like shapes.

  • Parc del Laberint d’Horta (Park of the Labyrinth of Horta)

One of the best places to go with kids, and enjoy the game of being lost within the Labyrinth. Amazing place, with no doubt will have to repeat it with kids.

The Park of the Labyrinth of Horta is the oldest park in Barcelona and is for many tourists an undiscovered treasure. In the Park of the Labyrinth of Horta there are also some pavilions and a beautiful pond, which make the place really enchanting.

  • CosmoCaixa

CosmoCaixa is Barcelona’s Science Museum, which features a range of interactive activities for children, a mini Amazon rainforest and planetarium. It offers regular workshops as well, and from our previous times we went, these are very interesting. The workshops are available for kids from 3 to 6 years and 7 to 9 years. We went there several times, and always kids enjoy the place a lot.

I hope you find this post useful while planning your trip to Barcelona with kids. If any doubts, just ask, we are here to help you.
