Berga Resort invited us for this stay. The opinions are our own.
We stayed at Berga Resort in May 2017, when Damian was four and Marc was one. With a toddler, we needed two things from a weekend away: a second bedroom, so bedtime didn’t end everyone’s evening, and somewhere to swim that didn’t depend on the weather. Berga Resort gave us both, an hour from Barcelona at the foot of the Pyrenees. It isn’t a campsite in the tent-and-shower-block sense. You sleep in a bungalow or a mobile home with its own kitchen and bathroom, and around it there are pools, a spa circuit, a gym and a play area big enough that we didn’t get to half of it.
Quick verdict
- Best for: families with babies to about 10-year-olds who want a self-catering weekend with pools, without driving to the coast.
- Book this unit: a 4-person, two-bedroom mobile home (34–36 m²). Ours was 36 m². For six people, the Noet has three bedrooms.
- The reason to go in spring or autumn: the indoor pools. In May the outdoor pools weren’t open yet, and it didn’t matter.
- Location: on the C-16 at Berga, about an hour (97 km) from Barcelona. Queralt sanctuary is just above the town.

Where is Berga Resort?
Berga Resort is just off the C-16 (exit 95, km 96.3) at Berga, in the Berguedà county of Barcelona province. That’s about 97 km, roughly an hour’s drive, from Barcelona, on the same road you’d take to the Cadí-Moixeró mountains and the ski resorts of the Pre-Pyrenees. With small kids that hour matters: it’s a Friday-after-school escape, not a holiday that needs planning.
Our bungalow: 36 m², two bedrooms, with a cot ready
We had a 36 m² unit for four: one double bedroom, one twin room, a bathroom, a kitchenette and a terrace. The resort had prepared a cot for Marc before we arrived. The kitchen had every utensil we needed, so breakfasts and the toddler’s dinners happened at home. In good weather we ate on the terrace. Cleanliness was ten out of ten.
For a family with a toddler, the layout is the point: two bedrooms, so the little one sleeps in one while the rest of you sit up in the other half of the unit. That’s something a hotel room doesn’t give you.
Which unit to book at Berga Resort today
The names have changed since our stay. Here’s what the resort lists now:
| Unit | Sleeps | Size | Bedrooms | Pets |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ensija mobile home | 2 + child under 2 | 30 m² | 1 | Yes |
| Pedraforca bungalow | 3 + child under 9 | 33 m² | 2 (double + bunk bed) | No |
| Moixeró bungalow | 4 | 34 m² | 2 (double + twin) | No |
| Queralt mobile home | 4 | 34 m² | 2 (double + twin) | Yes |
| Cadí mobile home | 4 | 36 m² | 2 (double + twin) | Yes |
| Noet mobile home | 6 | 40 m² | 3 (double + 4 singles), dishwasher | Yes |
All units have a kitchen and a terrace. All except the Ensija have air conditioning as well as heating; the Ensija has heating only. Our pick for a family of four is the Cadí: same size and layout as ours. If you’re travelling with a dog, book a mobile home, because the two bungalows don’t allow pets. Travelling with a baby? The resort lists a cot only for the Ensija and the Pedraforca, so ask for one when you book any other unit.

The pools: why Berga Resort works out of season
When we went in May, the outdoor pools weren’t open yet, but the indoor pools were, and for a spring or autumn weekend they’re the reason to choose Berga Resort over a campsite on the coast. The resort now promotes its pools as heated, for swimming all year. In summer the outdoor area adds a beach-shaped pool with slides, a salt-water pool and what the resort calls the only splash park in the region.
Check which pools are open for your dates before you book. Outdoor pool seasons aren’t published on the website.

Kids at Berga Resort: Salti Park, playground and mini club
The Salti Park was the boys’ favourite: an indoor ball pit with mazes, plus a playroom full of toys. These days the resort’s team supervises it, so parents get a break. Outside, the playground has so many structures that we had to ask Damian several times to come home. The resort also runs a mini club and children’s activities every weekend, and every day in high season.
There are paddle and tennis courts too. We never got to them: Berga Resort is big enough that one weekend wasn’t enough to try everything.

The spa (water circuit) and gym
The wellness area is a water circuit. When we were there it had a dry sauna, a steam room, a jacuzzi and cold plunge pools. Massages and beauty treatments are booked separately. The gym and its classes are included for guests. With a toddler, the circuit works best in tag-team mode: one parent goes while the other has the ball pit. Ask at reception about the children’s access rules and the price for your stay, because the resort doesn’t publish them.

What it costs
The resort doesn’t publish prices on its website. Prices change with the season, the unit and the night of the week, and weekends, bridges (puentes) and school holidays cost the most. The quickest way to compare is to put your dates into the booking box above, or the resort’s own booking engine.
Is Berga Resort worth it?
Yes, if your kids are under about ten and you want a weekend where the accommodation is the activity. You get space, a kitchen, indoor water for any weather and a play area that holds a four-year-old’s attention for hours. Book something else if you want a beach, or a town you can walk to dinner from: Berga Resort is out on the main road, and you’ll drive everywhere.
What to do near Berga Resort
- Santuari de Queralt: a sanctuary on the cliffs above Berga, at 1,200 m, with the best view in the Berguedà. Fifteen minutes up the hill.
- Berga old town, and if your dates fall around Corpus Christi, La Patum: Berga’s fire-and-giants festival, on UNESCO’s intangible heritage list since 2005. There’s a children’s Patum (Patum Infantil) too.
- The Cadí-Moixeró mountains further up the C-16, for an easy mountain day.
