Business & Comfort at Occidental Puerto Banús: A Full Review of My Stay

During a recent business trip to Marbella, I had the pleasure of staying at the Occidental Puerto Banús, a modern and stylish hotel located just steps away from the marina and the heart of Puerto Banús. While the purpose of my visit was primarily professional, the stay felt like a refreshing blend of work and relaxation. Here’s a full review of my experience—from check-in to check-out.

First Impressions & The Lobby

As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by a bright and airy lobby with contemporary design and Mediterranean charm. The space was clean, inviting, and well-organized, with helpful staff at the reception who made check-in a breeze. The lobby has a chic, minimalist aesthetic with subtle coastal vibes—just the right first impression for a seaside escape that also caters to business travelers.

The Standard Room: Comfort and Functionality

I stayed in a Standard Room, and it exceeded my expectations in both size and comfort. The room was well-lit with natural light, and the neutral tones with pops of warm color gave it a cozy yet modern feel. There was ample workspace, ideal for catching up on emails or planning the next day’s meetings, and the free Wi-Fi was consistently strong—a must for any business trip.

The bed was spacious and incredibly comfortable, with crisp linens and plush pillows that made it easy to unwind after a long day. I also appreciated the built-in wardrobe and full-length mirror, perfect for getting ready quickly and staying organized throughout the stay.

The Bathroom: Sleek & Practical

The bathroom was clean, updated, and functional with a sleek design. It featured a large walk-in shower with excellent water pressure and quality toiletries provided. The lighting was bright—ideal for makeup or grooming—and everything felt well-maintained. Towels were fluffy and replenished daily without needing to ask.

Amenities: Business with a Touch of Leisure

Even though this was a work trip, I had a chance to explore some of the hotel’s leisure facilities. The hotel has two standout pools—one for adults and one for kids.

  • The adults’ pool is ideal for a quiet moment of relaxation or a post-meeting swim, surrounded by sun loungers and shaded spots to unwind.
  • The kids’ pool, while I didn’t use it personally, looked like a fun and safe space for families, making the hotel a great option for bleisure (business + leisure) travel.

There’s also an on-site gym and several cozy corners in the hotel where you can take your laptop or enjoy a casual coffee.

Breakfast Included – A Delicious Start to the Day

Breakfast was included in my stay, and it was a highlight each morning. The buffet spread was diverse and well-balanced, with options ranging from fresh pastries and fruit to eggs, sausages, cheeses, and local specialties. The coffee was strong, the service was quick, and the breakfast area was spacious and comfortable. Whether you’re in a hurry or have time to linger, it caters to all schedules.

Dinner at Dolce Vita Restaurant

On my final evening, I dined at the hotel’s Dolce Vita Restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, perfect for unwinding after a full day.

I ordered a salmon fillet served with vegetables in a rich tomato sauce—a beautifully cooked dish that was both healthy and flavorful. The combination of tender fish and the tangy tomato-based sauce really hit the spot. My colleagues enjoyed a variety of Mediterranean options, from risottos to fresh salads. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the wine list offered excellent local selections.

If you’re staying at the hotel, I’d definitely recommend making time for at least one dinner here.

Final Thoughts

My stay at Occidental Puerto Banús was smooth, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a productive trip—with just the right amount of leisure to balance things out. The room quality, amenities, and on-site dining make it a solid choice for business travelers, couples, and families alike.

If your next trip brings you to Marbella—whether for work or pleasure—Occidental Puerto Banús is well worth considering.
