We stayed at Hotel Savoy Pesaro around Halloween 2024, when both our boys, Damian (11) and Marc (8), were playing a Halloween youth basketball tournament in Pesaro. We flew from Barcelona to Bologna, rented a car, and drove the hour and a half down the coast. It was a hotel stay with a twist: the first night the four of us shared a family room, and after that the boys moved to the team hotel with their teammates, and we moved into a double.
So this review covers both rooms, plus the breakfast, the pool we didn’t get to use, and the location, which is the main reason I’d book it again.

- Best for: families and sports parents who want to walk to the beach and the centre.
- Rooms: a family room for four the first night, then a double room. Both were clean and comfortable.
- Breakfast: the highlight. A proper buffet, and excellent coffee.
- Pool: there’s an outdoor pool with hydromassage tubs, but in late October it was too cold for us.
- Would we book it again? Yes, especially for a tournament weekend.

Where is Hotel Savoy Pesaro?
At Viale della Repubblica 22, in the centre of Pesaro, a few minutes’ walk from the seafront. Shops, restaurants and the beach promenade were all walkable, which matters more than you’d think on a tournament weekend, when the boys are with the team and you have long gaps to fill. From Bologna Airport it’s about an hour and a half by car, and there’s also a train from Bologna to Pesaro.
Arriving late: check-in
After the flight to Bologna and the drive down, we got to the hotel late at night. I’d emailed the hotel in advance with our arrival time, and they were ready for us: check-in took a few minutes, even at that hour. Tip: if you’re driving down from Bologna after an evening flight, email the hotel first. It made a tired arrival with two kids very easy.
Our rooms: a family room, then a double
Night 1, the family room. All four of us slept in a spacious family room with everything we needed after a long travel day. With an 11- and an 8-year-old, the space mattered.
Night 2 onwards, a double room. From the second day the boys moved to the team hotel with their teammates, as players usually do at these tournaments, so we switched to a double room. Like the family room, it was clean and stylish.
A hotel-industry tip: if your stay changes partway through, as ours did, book the two room types as two separate reservations, both with free cancellation. It’s often cheaper than keeping the family room, and it protects you if the team schedule changes.
Breakfast at Hotel Savoy Pesaro
The highlight of the stay. The buffet had local and international options: fresh pastries and fruit that the kids went straight for, plus cheese and cold cuts for us. The coffee was exactly what you hope for in Italy. On game days, a big breakfast before an early game is half the battle.

Yes: an outdoor pool with a solarium and two hydromassage tubs. We didn’t swim, because in late October it was simply too cold. If the pool matters to you, go between late spring and early autumn, and check with the hotel that it’s open for your dates.
Restaurant
The hotel’s restaurant, the Ariston Blue Dream, serves Marche and international dishes and is open to non-guests. We ate out in town, where the local pinza flatbread and plenty of pasta kept the boys happy: our Pesaro trip has where and what.
Hotel Savoy Pesaro for basketball and sports tournaments
This is the angle most reviews won’t give you. At youth tournaments the players often sleep in a team hotel, and parents need their own bed nearby. The Savoy worked well for that: central, so it’s easy to get to the courts and back, a beach walk to fill the gaps between games, and a family room for the night before the team takes over. - The beach and the promenade: a few minutes’ walk.
- Pesaro’s centre: shops, cafés and pizzerias on foot.
- Gradara Castle: the medieval fortress we visited on our free day, a short drive up the coast. The fortress ticket was €10 for adults in 2026, and under-18s go free.
