We paid for every PortAventura stay ourselves, including this one. Ponient Dorada Palace is in central Salou, and it’s now part of PortAventura World’s partner hotels, so a stay comes with park tickets. You’ll also see it spelt “Ponent Dorada Palace”. It’s the same hotel.
Ponent Dorada Palace – Family hotel in Salou.
Quick verdict
- Good for: families who want Salou’s beach and town plus a PortAventura day, without paying on-site prices.
- Watch out: standard rooms start at 14 m² for up to four. That’s tight, so book the 33 m² junior suite or an apartment.
- Tickets: 1–2 nights include one day at PortAventura Park + Ferrari Land. 3+ nights include two days.
- Parking: €19 a day, underground.

Where is Ponient Dorada Palace?
In central Salou, about 800 m from the beach and 2 km from PortAventura World. That’s walkable for adults and older kids. With small children or on a hot day, take a taxi or the local bus. You’re in the town, with restaurants and the promenade around you, rather than inside the resort.

PortAventura tickets with a Ponient Dorada Palace stay
This is the part that changed since we first wrote about the hotel. It’s now sold as Ponient Dorada Palace by PortAventura World, and a stay includes park access:
- 1–2 nights: one day of PortAventura Park + Ferrari Land (the same day).
- 3+ nights: two days (one PortAventura + Ferrari Land, one PortAventura only).
- Extra tickets at reception are discounted (PortAventura says “up to 50%”).
Before you book, compare this with the €1 second-park ticket trick. For a single park day it can change the maths.
Ponient Dorada Palace rooms: which one to book for a family
All three room types take up to four people. The size is what differs:
| Room | Size | Beds | Our view |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | from 14 m² | double + extra beds | Fine for 2 + 1 small child. Tight for four |
| Apartment | from 20 m² | double + 2 singles | Better value for four than the standard room |
| Junior suite | from 33 m² | double + sofa bed | The comfortable choice for a family of four |

Pools, the kids’ club and the adults-only rooftop
There are three outdoor pools and a children’s pool, open in summer, and a Mini Club for kids. On the roof there’s a separate area with jacuzzis, a pool, a solarium, a bar and a gym, and it’s adults-only. That’s worth knowing before you promise the kids a rooftop swim. For a parent it’s a good hour off while the other takes the kids to the main pools.

Food and board
Board options run from bed & breakfast to half board and all-inclusive, served as a buffet with plenty of children’s choices.
Parking
Underground parking costs €19 a day. For a 2-night stay that’s close to €40, so if you’re coming from Barcelona, consider the train to Salou or PortAventura station instead.
Is Ponient Dorada Palace good for families?
Yes, for a Salou beach-and-park break, as long as you book a junior suite or an apartment rather than a 14 m² standard room. Compared with staying inside the resort, you trade walk-in park access for being in town, near the beach. Our comparison of the three hotels we’ve paid for is here: PortAventura hotels compared.
