Our two sons live for basketball, and over the last few summers we’ve done the camp circuit the way most parents do: some research, some guesswork, and some money we’d spend differently next time. Damian did the Pau Gasol Academy in Barcelona in July 2022. Both boys did FC Barcelona’s Campus Bàsquet and a Lakers camp in July 2024, a camp in Milwaukee in July 2025, and in summer 2026 the residential OSE camp and the Šarūnas Jasikevičius camp in Seva, near Barcelona. Between camps they’ve played tournaments in Spain, Italy and Serbia. So this guide to basketball camps for kids starts with what we’ve actually done, prices included, and then covers the big-name camps we’ve researched for next summer.

Pau Gasol Academy: what Damian’s week was like
Damian did the Pau Gasol Academy in July 2022 as a day camper. We live in Barcelona, so he came home every evening. He was 9, and his venue was the Padre Damián school, close to home. We paid €490 for the week. The residential option, with nights in a university residence, cost more.
What surprised me most wasn’t the basketball. It was how much confidence and independence he came back with after a single week.
The 2026 edition, as published: ages 8–17, one week (29 June to 4 July 2026), training from 9:00 to 18:00, with meals and snacks, a kit (two T-shirts, shorts and a gym sack) and gifts included. Venues are in Barcelona (Padre Damián, INEFC, CEM Mundet and La Salle Bonanova). Day camp €490, residential €1,270, with a €20 sibling discount code. Residential campers get an airport or train transfer on arrival day. For 2027 there’s a waiting list, with no dates or prices yet.
FC Barcelona Campus Bàsquet (July 2024)
Both boys did Barça’s basketball campus in July 2024, and we paid €650 per child for the week. The days were built around training, and the highlight was the special guests from the Barça first team. The camp is closed to families during the week: parents can only come in on Friday, for the final day. They did it as day campers and slept at home every night.
The current campus: it runs at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, with games at the Palau Blaugrana. It’s residential, with two workouts a day, a visit from a first-team player, the Barça Immersive Tour and two Barça Escola kits. The summer week (29 June to 3 July) was sold out when we checked, and Barça doesn’t publish the age range or price until booking. If your child wants the “pro club” feeling, this is it. Register the moment bookings open.
Lakers basketball camp (July 2024)
Both boys did a week at the Los Angeles Lakers basketball camp in July 2024, held at The MAP Sports Facility in Garden Grove, in Orange County south of Los Angeles. We paid $750 per child for the week, so $1,500 for the two of them. That’s more than the €490 Pau Gasol day camp before you’ve even paid for flights. You’re paying for the name and the NBA setting.
Our Milwaukee basketball camp (July 2025)
In July 2025 both boys did a one-week day camp in the Milwaukee area, from 9:00 to 15:00, and they loved it. We paid €645.89 for the two of them for the week. We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites in Brookfield, about ten minutes’ drive away, and after training the boys went straight into the hotel’s two indoor pools. We rented a car in Milwaukee, and you need one: the camps are spread across the suburbs.
If you’re looking at Milwaukee camps for 2027: the Bucks run day camps around the Milwaukee area every summer, June to August. A 2026 example: ages 7–14, Monday–Thursday 9:00–15:00 and Friday 9:00–13:00, $325 plus fees, with a basketball, a jersey and a ticket to a Bucks home game included.
Šarūnas Jasikevičius camp in Seva
In July 2026 both boys did the Šarūnas Jasikevičius camp in Seva, about an hour from Barcelona, and we stayed at Hotel Montanyà. The camp takes ages 10–16, and the coaching staff was a mix of local and international coaches.
Day or residential: almost every camper stays residential, at €1,000 per child. We did it differently: we booked Hotel Montanyà ourselves, the boys went as non-residential campers at €550 each, and they came back to us at night. For a family that wants a few days in the hills anyway, that’s €450 a child saved towards the hotel.
A typical day: camp runs from 9:00 to 19:00, with free time at midday and again in the evening. Then from 21:00 to 23:00 there are competitions. They’re long days, and the kids sleep well.

Residential camps for teenagers: OSE and Baskonia
Baskonia Summer Camp (Vitoria-Gasteiz, researched): ages 12–17, residential, two weeks in July 2026 (12–19 and 19–26 July). Training is at the Ondare-Bakh complex, and campers sleep at the Ondare residence. Baskonia sends the price only after you apply.
OSE Summer Camp (L’Hospitalet de l’Infant, Tarragona): both boys did it in summer 2026 and slept at the camp. We paid the early-bird price, €700 per child. Like Barça, it’s closed to parents during the week, and families can visit only on Friday. The 2027 edition: ages 10–18, 25–31 July 2027, residential with full board, 4–6 to a room and 24-hour supervision, next to the beach. €695 early bird (groups of three or more, before 31 January 2027), €745 before 4 May, €795 after that.
Day camp or residential?
Day camps are cheaper and easier for under-10s. You also see your child every evening, which with a first camp matters to everyone. Residential camps build independence. That’s the thing I noticed most in Damian after just a day camp, and it’s the whole point of a week away. My rule of thumb: residential from 11 or 12, once they’ve done at least one sleepover trip with a team.
How to choose a basketball camp
- Age and level: check the camp’s age bands and whether groups are split by level, not only by age.
- Hours and what’s included: meals, kit, transfers, insurance. A €490 camp that includes lunch and kit can cost less than a cheaper one that doesn’t.
- Coach-to-player ratio, and whether there’s medical staff on site. Ask before you book.
- Language: most Spanish camps run in Spanish or Catalan. Ask if your child needs English.
- Logistics: for camps away from home, book the hotel early and close to the venue. In Milwaukee, ten minutes’ drive made the week easy.
- Rest: plan a lazy day after camp. They come home exhausted.
