Atik Rooftop at H10 Cubik: Cathedral Views, Guests-Only Pool

H10 Cubik sits on Via Laietana, a few metres from Barcelona Cathedral, and on its roof there’s a bar called Atik with a heated plunge pool and a view over the Gothic Quarter.

Two things about it are worth knowing before you go up, and neither is on any other English page: the plunge pool is for hotel guests only, and H10 publishes no age policy for the terrace — so what a family can actually do up there needs spelling out rather than assuming.

Here’s what’s verifiable, and what we found.

First, the name

It’s Atik, not Àtic.

Easy mistake — àtic is Catalan for a top-floor flat, so the Catalan word is what your brain reaches for. But H10 calls it Atik Rooftop Bar & Terrace, and the hotel’s own lobby bar is Robotik, so the “-ik” is a house style rather than a typo.

The hotel

H10 Cubik, run by H10 Hotels, at Via Laietana 69, 08003 Barcelona.

H10 describes it as “four-star superior” — worth quoting exactly, because the “superior” is part of the published rating and not a flourish.

The location is the strongest thing about it: “just a few metres from Barcelona Cathedral” and on the edge of the Gothic Quarter. Note that H10 does not publish a distance to Plaça Catalunya, to Passeig de Gràcia or to a metro station — the hotel’s own anchor landmark is the Cathedral, so that’s what to use.

The interior is brutalist — hard lines, concrete, dark surfaces. It’s a design hotel, and it either appeals or it doesn’t.

One thing worth a mention that isn’t on any review of this hotel: H10 Cubik runs on solar-powered water heating and 100% renewable electricity. If that’s something you filter on, it’s a real point in its favour.

Atik, the rooftop

What H10 publishes:

• Open 12:00 to midnight, with the kitchen open until 22:30
• A heated plunge pool and sun lounger area — and these are “exclusively for guests”
• Views over the Cathedral and the city

Read the pool line carefully, because it’s the thing that will disappoint people. It’s a plunge pool, not a swimming pool — small, for getting into rather than swimming in — and it’s reserved for people staying at the hotel. If you come up for a drink without a room, the pool is scenery.

What H10 doesn’t publish, and I’m not going to guess:

• Whether non-guests can use the bar at all. H10 neither invites nor excludes outside visitors anywhere on its site. Phone before you plan an evening around it
• Any minimum age or adults-only rule for the terrace. No age policy is stated either way
• Which floor it’s on. Not published
• Whether it’s open all year. The page reads as year-round but doesn’t say so
• Any food or drink prices

As a travel agency worker I had an invitation to come and enjoy the terrace. Usually in summer time, the terrace of the hotels opens to wide public to enjoy a drink and views over the city.

Is it good for families? The honest answer

This is where I want to be careful, because the previous version of this post answered a question the hotel doesn’t.

H10 publishes no age policy for Atik. It’s not marketed as adults-only, and no minimum age is stated. So the position is: there’s no published rule stopping you taking children up, and there’s no published assurance that you can. Phone and ask.

What is certain is that the plunge pool is guests-only, so if the plan is children in the water, that needs a room.

This is the most useful thing I can tell a family about H10 Cubik, and it took reading every room page to find it.

The only occupancy H10 publishes anywhere is “up to three people”, in the Junior Suite — which it calls “a practical choice for families (up to three people)”.

So there is no published room type at H10 Cubik that sleeps four. No family room, no quadruple, no connecting rooms. A family of two adults and two children is looking at two rooms, or at a different hotel.

That’s not a criticism of the hotel — it’s a four-star superior design hotel in the old town, not a family resort — but it is the single thing a family needs to know before booking, and nobody publishes it.

Eating and drinking in the hotel

• Market Restaurant — breakfast 07:30 to 10:30, buffet and à la carte
• Robotik Bar — in the lobby. Your original post doesn’t mention it at all
• Atik — the rooftop, 12:00 to midnight, kitchen to 22:30

Verdict

The rooftop is worth going up for the Cathedral view, and the view is the product.

Go if you want a drink above the Gothic Quarter at sunset and you’re happy that the pool isn’t part of the deal unless you’re staying.

Phone first if you’re not a guest, because H10 doesn’t say whether outside visitors are welcome — and phone if you’re bringing children, because it doesn’t say that either.

If you’re booking a room and there are four of you, look elsewhere. Nothing here is published as sleeping more than three.
