Ibiza With Kids: The Ultimate Family Guide to Beaches, Hotels & Things to Do

Is Ibiza Good for Families?

When we told friends we were taking our children to Ibiza, the first reaction was almost always the same:

Ibiza… with kids?”

Like many people, we used to associate Ibiza with beach clubs and nightlife. But after spending a week exploring the island, we discovered a completely different side.

We found calm beaches with crystal-clear water, family-friendly resorts, exciting outdoor activities, charming villages, and some of the best Mediterranean scenery we’ve experienced.

If you’re wondering whether Ibiza is a good destination for families, our answer is a definite yes.

Why We Loved Ibiza as a Family

There were several reasons why Ibiza exceeded our expectations.

✔️ Safe, shallow beaches

✔️ Short driving distances between attractions

✔️ Excellent family hotels

✔️ Plenty of outdoor activities

✔️ Beautiful nature

✔️ Relaxed atmosphere outside the party areas

The island is compact, making it easy to explore without spending hours in the car—something every parent will appreciate.

Best Areas to Stay With Kids

1. Es Canar ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is where we stayed, and we’d happily choose it again.

Why we loved it:

  • Relaxed atmosphere
  • Sandy beach with calm water
  • Seafront promenade
  • Restaurants within walking distance
  • Great base for exploring the island

We stayed at Leonardo Royal Suites Ibiza Santa Eulalia, in a spacious Quad Deluxe Superior Sea View room. The hotel offered half board with a varied Mediterranean buffet, live cooking stations, daily entertainment, and activities that kept our children happy throughout the stay.

2. Santa Eulalia

A quieter resort town with a beautiful marina, playgrounds, excellent restaurants, and a long beachfront promenade that’s ideal for evening walks.

3. Portinatx

If your family loves swimming and nature, Portinatx is a fantastic choice.

Its calm bays and crystal-clear water make it one of the most beautiful areas in Ibiza.

4. Cala Llonga

Known for its sheltered bay and shallow water, Cala Llonga is another excellent option for families with younger children.

Our Favourite Family Beaches

Es Canar

Perfect for your first beach day.

The water is calm, and there are cafés, restaurants, and shops nearby.

Cala Nova ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of our favourite beaches.

Beautiful sand, clear water, and plenty of space for families.

Cala Llenya

A peaceful beach with a relaxed atmosphere, ideal if you want to avoid larger crowds.

Cala Benirràs

We visited at sunset, and it became one of the highlights of our trip.

Watching the sun disappear behind the rocky islet created a magical family memory.

L’Arenal Petit (Portinatx)

A small sheltered cove with shallow water that’s ideal for younger children.

Portinatx Beach

One of the clearest beaches we visited.

This is also where we rented a kayak and explored hidden coves together.

Cala Xarraca

Excellent for snorkelling and discovering marine life.

Older children will love swimming here.

Cala Salada & Cala Saladeta

Two stunning beaches connected by a short walk.

Arrive early to avoid the crowds.

Cala Comte

One of Ibiza’s most famous beaches, with vibrant turquoise water and plenty of room to swim.

Cala Bassa

Soft sand, calm sea, and shallow water make this one of the best family beaches on the island.

Cala d’Hort

Visit for the spectacular views of Es Vedrà. Even if you only spend a short time on the beach, the scenery is unforgettable.

Family Activities We Tried

Kayaking in Portinatx ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of our favourite experiences.

For €20 per hour, all four of us shared a kayak and paddled along the coastline, discovering small coves and enjoying crystal-clear water.

Catamaran With Slide – Es Canar ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another highlight.

For €25 per hour, our family enjoyed swimming, jumping into the sea, and relaxing on the water.

The children absolutely loved the slide.

Explore Dalt Vila

Walking through Ibiza’s historic Old Town felt like stepping back in time.

Our children enjoyed exploring the narrow streets, ancient walls, and viewpoints overlooking the marina.

Sunset at Cala Benirràs

Simple, free, and unforgettable.

Sometimes the best family memories don’t cost anything.
