Meliá Sevilla Room Tour: A Stay That Just Makes Sense
This review comes from my husband’s stay at Meliá Sevilla, on a work trip. The company booked and paid for it, so there’s no price to share. What I can share is how the hotel works, where it is, and why it’s one of the few city hotels in Seville I’d consider for a family in winter.
The short version: a 4-star directly opposite Plaza de España, next to María Luisa Park, about 1 km from the old town, with an outdoor pool that’s open all year.
Meliá Sevilla – opposite Plaza de España, 4-star, outdoor pool open all year.

Where is Meliá Sevilla? The walk to Plaza de España
At Calle Doctor Pedro de Castro 1, directly opposite Plaza de España, with María Luisa Park beside it. Plaza de España is a few minutes’ walk. The Cathedral, the Alcázar and Santa Cruz are about 1 km away, a flat walk through the park, and the airport is 9 km. It’s quieter than the old town at night, which suits both a work trip and a family.
Meliá Sevilla pool: open all year
The hotel has a 130 m² outdoor pool with a large sundeck, and Meliá says it’s open all year (it can close for private events). In Seville’s summer that’s essential. In spring and autumn, it’s the reason to choose this hotel over an old-town one with no pool at all. There’s also a pool restaurant, Quimera Food & Pool.
Meliá Sevilla rooms: what the standard room is like
Standard Meliá rooms are about 19 m² (205 sq ft), with one double or two singles, a desk, a coffee machine and reliable Wi-Fi. At the other end, two-bedroom suites reach about 118 m².
The Bed (because it Matters)
If there’s one thing my husband always comments on, it’s the bed — and here, no complaints at all.
It’s big, properly comfortable, and the kind you’re actually happy to come back to after a long day. Whether that’s meetings or walking around the city, it does the job.
No fancy wording needed — you sleep well, and that’s what counts.
Space & Layout: Made for Real Use
The room isn’t huge, but it’s well thought out.
There’s a proper desk setup (which, for a work trip, is essential), enough storage so you’re not living out of your suitcase, and just enough space to move around without feeling cramped.
Would this specific room work for a family of four? Probably not.
But for one or two people — it’s more than enough. And if you’re traveling with kids, the hotel does offer larger room options that would make more sense.

Bathroom: Clean, Bright, Does the Job
The bathroom follows the same logic as the rest of the room.
Clean lines, good lighting (which is surprisingly rare), and everything you need without overcomplicating it. Depending on the room, you’ll get either a walk-in shower or a bathtub.
Nothing over the top — just well done.

The Little Things That Make a Difference
There’s a coffee machine, good WiFi, air conditioning that works properly — all the basics, but done right.
And honestly, that’s often what separates a “good stay” from an annoying one.
No fighting with slow internet. No struggling with temperature. No unnecessary friction.
Views & Atmosphere
Depending on the room, you might get a view towards Plaza de España or over the city — which is a nice bonus, especially in the evening.
But even if you don’t, the overall feeling of the hotel is calm and relaxed. It’s not chaotic, not overly busy — and that’s something we always appreciate.
Breakfast at Meliá Sevilla
Breakfast is served at Mosaico, which has indoor and outdoor seating.
Is Meliá Sevilla good for families?
Yes, if you book the right room. Standard rooms suit two adults and a small child. For four, look at the family rooms or connecting premium rooms that Meliá lists. With the year-round pool, the park next door and Plaza de España on the doorstep, it’s one of the easiest bases in Seville with kids, especially outside summer, when most hotel pools close
Final Thoughts
This is not one of those hotels that tries to impress you with flashy design or over-the-top luxury.
Instead, Meliá Sevilla does something much more valuable — it gets the basics right.
Great location. Comfortable rooms. No stress.
And sometimes, especially when you’re traveling — that’s exactly what you need.
📌 Save This for Later
