Aquarium de Barcelona offers a great opportunity for people of all ages to get an up close experience with some of the most majestic and unusual creatures of the sea. This well preserved aquarium holds over 100 types of species which come from different origins of the world. Catch your sight with sharks, fishes many kinds, exotic species, lobsters, to other water habitats which are maintained in eco-system tanks.

Once entered Aquarium, you get into a well preserved garden full of exotic species and painted fishes hanging out. Making you feel a child again. I can firmly say that we were 4 kids going to discover submarine world. Even if for us it wasn’t the first visit to Aquarium de Barcelona, for both our kids it was.

At the first tank of fishes our kids were so excited, as the little one began to talk and scream of happiness. They were happy to see such big amount of fishes at Aquarium. Damian was running there back and forth from one tank of fishes to another till he discovered the tank of coral fishes. And he found NEMO… a lot of NEMOs. That moment was too funny, as he remained spellbound. What to say, for both our kids, it was the happiest moment to see a lot of colorful fishes at that tank. Apart of Nemo, both of them liked Lionfishes. These unusual form of theirs, made both our kids to take a rest and look at theirs water dance.

Two underwater tunnels made us feel real divers. Apart of a lot of little fishes we were amazed of majestic sharks swimming around.

While we were discovering marine life we got a surprise waiting for us inside the tank.

On the next floor, we stopped at children playground, a very special playground that looks like a real submarine. Damian was so happy to play and discover such a great place to play. He could touch, push all the buttons he liked. What can impress more.

After few time at submarine we went to take a rest at the bar situated next to the submarine. Very cozy and clean bar, with a big variety of food to offer. From a burger, to a big variety of ice creams. Even we have seen smoothies to sell there.

After a little rest, we went to see Penguins. But far greater surprise waited us… there were families activitieswith mentors who fed penguins and helped us discover penguins life in a familiar way.

Another great activity to do at Aquarium de Barcelonais experience with sharks. Children from 8-12 years old can sleep at at the aquarium with sharks view. This way the kids find how sharks behave and what these do when night falls. I think it is an amazing experience, and our kids for sure will do once they grow a little more. Below is a photo by Aquarium de Barcelona for sleep with sharks activity.

By walking through the whole aquarium, one can really appreciate how unique the marine world can be in different parts of the world and provide a great insight into the mysterious underwater kingdom. Definitely a must-see and must-go place!
