Best Family Beaches in Ibiza: 12 Kid-Friendly Beaches We Loved

Before travelling to Ibiza, we often heard people talking about its nightlife, but after spending a week exploring the island with our 13 and 10-year-old children, we discovered something completely different.

Ibiza is home to some of the most beautiful family-friendly beaches in the Mediterranean. Calm turquoise water, soft sandy coves, excellent facilities, and plenty of activities make it an amazing destination for families.

During our road trip around the island, we visited more than a dozen beaches, and these became our favourites.

1. Es Canar

Our Favourite Family Beach

If we had to choose one beach to return to, it would probably be Es Canar.

We stayed directly opposite the beach at Leonardo Royal Suites Ibiza Santa Eulalia, making it our home beach for the week.

The water was calm every day, the sandy beach was ideal for children, and there were plenty of restaurants, cafés, supermarkets, and water activities nearby.

One of our favourite experiences was renting a kayak and later a catamaran with a slide, both of which were perfect for families.

2. Cala Nova

One of Ibiza’s longest natural beaches, Cala Nova offers plenty of space even during the busy summer months.

Although small waves occasionally appear, there are usually calmer areas that are perfect for children.

We loved the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful turquoise water.

3. Cala Llenya

Just a few minutes from Es Canar, Cala Llenya quickly became one of our favourite discoveries.

The bay is protected by pine-covered hills, creating calm water that’s ideal for swimming.

Compared with some of Ibiza’s more famous beaches, Cala Llenya also felt quieter.

4. Portinatx

Several Family Beaches in One Destination

Portinatx is one of the best family destinations in northern Ibiza.

We especially loved:

• S’Arenal Petit
• Portinatx Beach (S’Arenal Gros)
• Hidden coves nearby

The water here was among the clearest we saw anywhere on the island.

Families can easily spend an entire day swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing before enjoying lunch at one of the seafront restaurants.

5. Cala Bassa

Cala Bassa combines incredibly clear water with soft golden sand.

Despite its popularity, it’s spacious enough for families to spread out and enjoy the day.

Children will love the shallow water, while parents can relax beneath the pine trees providing natural shade.

6. Cala Comte

Famous for its turquoise water, Cala Comte is one of Ibiza’s postcard beaches.

While it can become busy in summer, arriving early rewards families with calm water that’s perfect for swimming.

Stay into the evening if you can—it’s also one of the island’s best sunset spots.

7. Cala Salada

Cala Salada offers a sheltered bay with beautiful crystal-clear water.

Families enjoy:

The only downside is that parking can be difficult during peak season, so it’s worth arriving early.

8. Cala Saladeta

Only a short walk from Cala Salada, Cala Saladeta feels like a hidden paradise.

Its shallow, turquoise water is stunning, but the rocky path between the two beaches may be a little challenging for families with very young children or large pushchairs.

For older kids, it’s an unforgettable beach.

9. Cala d’Hort

The incredible views of Es Vedrà make Cala d’Hort one of Ibiza’s most memorable beaches.

Although parts of the shoreline are pebbly, the calm water is perfect for swimming.

Bring water shoes for extra comfort.

Parents will also appreciate the excellent restaurants overlooking the sea.

10. Cala Benirràs

Best known for its famous sunsets, Cala Benirràs is also a fantastic family beach during the day.

Children can safely paddle in the calm water, while older kids will enjoy snorkeling near the rocks.

If you stay until sunset, you’ll experience one of Ibiza’s most magical evenings.

11. Cala Xarraca

Cala Xarraca is smaller than many beaches on this list but perfect for adventurous families.

The crystal-clear water makes it one of the island’s best places for snorkeling.

If your children enjoy exploring underwater, don’t forget to bring masks.

12. S’Arenal Petit (Portinatx)

Although technically part of Portinatx, S’Arenal Petit deserves a special mention.

Its sheltered bay, shallow water, and peaceful atmosphere make it one of the safest beaches for younger children.

If you’re travelling with toddlers or preschoolers, this would be one of our top recommendations.

Tips for Visiting Ibiza’s Beaches with Kids

• Arrive before 10:00 AM during July and August to find easier parking and quieter beaches.
• Pack snorkeling masks—many of Ibiza’s beaches have amazing underwater life just a few metres from shore.
• Bring water shoes, especially for beaches with pebbles or rocky entrances like Cala d’Hort and Cala Salada.
• Carry plenty of water and sunscreen, as natural shade is limited on some beaches.
• If you’re planning a full beach day, choose beaches with restaurants and toilets such as Es Canar, Portinatx, Cala Bassa, or Cala Comte.

Final Thoughts

After exploring Ibiza’s coastline for a week, one thing became clear: this island is a fantastic destination for families. Every beach had its own personality, from the relaxed atmosphere of Es Canar to the turquoise waters of Cala Comte and the crystal-clear bays of Portinatx.

If we had to recommend just a few, we’d choose Es Canar as the best all-round family beach, Portinatx for snorkeling and calm water, and Cala Nova for long, relaxing beach days. Together, they perfectly capture why Ibiza surprised us so much as a family destination.
