Quick answer
- Under-11s go free. A family of two adults and two young children pays €52, not €104.
- €26 with the audio guide app, €30 with a guided tour, €36 with tower access, €40 for both. Seniors €21, under-30s and students €24.
- Go early or go late. The east-facing Nativity façade takes the morning light; the Passion façade and the west windows are the late-afternoon show. The middle of the day is the worst of both.
- Book at least two weeks ahead in summer. Slots sell out.
- There’s a free playground behind the basilica in Plaça de la Sagrada Família, and it’s the best free view of the building in the city.
If you want to visit Sagrada Familia, book in advance, if you are coming in high season, at least 1 month prior to your trip.

The under-11 rule is the one worth knowing. Nobody leads with it because the pages ranking for “Sagrada Família tickets” are resellers.
The best time to visit, properly
We really advise you to go in the afternoon and on a sunny day, because the reflections of the light through the mosaic is spectacular during this time.
What’s factual and worth stating either way:
- The Nativity façade faces east — morning light
- The Passion façade faces west — afternoon light
- Inside, the blues and greens are on the Nativity side and the oranges and reds on the Passion side, so the interior colour depends entirely on when you go
Are the towers worth it?
Two towers can be climbed with a ticket, and the ticket is €10 more.

The free bit: the playground and the park
Behind the basilica, on the Plaça de la Sagrada Família side, there’s a playground and a pond. It’s free, it’s where the reflection photograph comes from, and it’s noticeably calmer than the ticket-queue side.
Getting there
Metro Sagrada Família (L2 and L5) comes out at the building. If you’re on the Barcelona City Tour bus, the orange route stops here; the green route doesn’t — its nearest stop is Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, about fifteen minutes’ walk down Avinguda Gaudí.
