Millennium Biltmore LA Review: Luxurious Family Stay Downtown

After a wonderful time in Westminster, we were excited to continue our California adventure in Los Angeles. Our destination: the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel, a true icon in the heart of downtown LA. The transition from the serene charm of Westminster to the vibrant city life of Los Angeles was exhilarating, and the Biltmore Hotel offered a fantastic base from which to explore the city.

Upon our arrival, we reached the hotel a bit earlier than the standard check-in time of 3 PM. To our delight, the hotel staff was accommodating and allowed us to check in at 2 PM, which was a thoughtful gesture that made our transition smoother. We were initially assigned a small room that, unfortunately, had some issues with noise due to windows that didn’t close properly. It was only after our first night that we realized how disruptive this could be.

However, the Biltmore’s attentive staff swiftly addressed our concerns. The next day, they kindly offered us a room change to a more spacious accommodation. This new room was a significant improvement, with properly sealed windows that provided a quieter environment. The extra space was perfect for our kids to play, and the larger closet added extra convenience. Both rooms featured a great shower/bath and super comfortable beds, ensuring restful nights.

The hotel’s attention to cleanliness was exceptional. We appreciated the meticulous housekeeping that kept our room in pristine condition throughout our stay. The room was equipped with a fridge for storing leftovers, a coffee machine with daily coffee replenishments, and bottled water provided as a daily courtesy. These thoughtful touches enhanced our comfort and convenience.

The Fitness and Relaxation Facilities

After long days of exploring Los Angeles, we found solace in the hotel’s excellent fitness and relaxation facilities. The gym was well-equipped with modern machines and free weights, making it easy to maintain our fitness routine. The pool provided a refreshing retreat and was a great spot to unwind and enjoy a few leisurely laps or simply relax by the water. The sauna offered a perfect way to relax and rejuvenate after busy days of sightseeing, adding an extra layer of luxury to our stay.

One of the standout features of the Millennium Biltmore is its rich history. Opened in 1923, the hotel has been a glamorous backdrop for numerous significant events. It was famously the venue for the Academy Awards in 1930, marking the first time Oscar nominations were announced there. Over the years, the hotel has also hosted a range of iconic film shoots. Notable movies filmed at the Biltmore include “The Gangster Squad”, “L.A. Confidential”, and “The Dark Knight Rises”. This storied past adds an extra layer of charm to the already elegant surroundings.

During our stay, the hotel was also hosting the Miss USA Teen pageant, adding a touch of excitement to our visit. It was fascinating to see such a historic venue hosting a high-profile event, further illustrating the Biltmore’s ongoing role as a premier destination in Los Angeles.

In summary, our stay at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel was a blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Despite a rocky start with our initial room, the attentive staff and the luxurious amenities quickly turned our experience into a memorable one. The top-notch gym, pool, and sauna were perfect for unwinding after our adventures, and the hotel’s rich history only added to its allure. Whether you’re drawn by the Biltmore’s storied past or its elegant present, this iconic hotel provides a unique and enriching stay in the heart of Los Angeles.
