Our road trip through Asturias brought us to this enchanting area, where we explored the picturesque villages of Busto, Cadavedo, and Cudillero. Arriving in Valdés

Busto also offers a beautiful coastal path that winds along the cliffs, providing stunning views of the sea and the rocky coastline. We enjoyed a leisurely hike, taking in the natural beauty and stopping to admire the views from various lookout points. La Regalina Hermitage
One of the most notable sites in Cadavedo is the Hermitage of La Regalina. This quaint chapel, set atop a hill, offers spectacular views of the coastline and the surrounding countryside. The annual festival held here in August is a major cultural event, attracting visitors from all over the region. While we visited outside of festival season, the peaceful ambiance and stunning scenery made it a highlight of our trip.

Cadavedo’s historic center is a delight to explore. The narrow streets, lined with traditional Asturian houses and vibrant flowers, create a picturesque setting. We wandered through the village, discovering charming cafes and local shops. The friendly locals welcomed us with warm smiles and shared stories about the village’s rich history and traditions.

Our journey through Valdés wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Cudillero, a vibrant fishing village known for its colorful houses and lively harbor.
The Harbor
Cudillero’s harbor is the heart of the village, bustling with activity and charm. We spent hours exploring the waterfront, watching the fishermen at work and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. The colorful houses that cascade down the hillsides towards the harbor create a stunning backdrop, making every moment feel like a scene from a storybook.
The Miradores
Cudillero is famous for its miradores (viewpoints), which offer breathtaking panoramic views of the village and the sea. We climbed to several of these viewpoints, each offering a unique perspective of Cudillero’s beauty. The Mirador de la Garita-Atalaya and the Mirador del Pico were our favorites, providing stunning vistas that left us in awe.
Local Cuisine
Cudillero is also a paradise for food lovers. We dined at a seaside restaurant, savoring fresh seafood dishes like grilled octopus and calamari. The local cider, or sidra, was a refreshing complement to our meals, and we enjoyed learning about the traditional way it is poured from a height to aerate it. The kids loved watching the unique pouring technique, making the experience fun for the whole family.
