One of the questions we were asked most after returning from Ibiza was:
“How much did the trip actually cost?”
So we decided to share our complete budget.
We travelled as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) during July, one of Ibiza’s busiest and most expensive months. Our trip lasted 7 nights, and we stayed on a half-board basis, rented a car for the entire stay, explored beaches all around the island, and enjoyed a few family activities.
To save money, we booked almost everything in January, around six months before our trip. Booking early made a noticeable difference, especially for flights, accommodation, and car rental.
Here’s exactly what we spent.
Flights & Hotel
Total: €2,800.00
Included:
- ✈️ Return flights with Vueling from Barcelona
- 🏨 7 nights at Leonardo Royal Suites Ibiza Santa Eulalia
- 🍽️ Half Board (breakfast + dinner)
- 👨👩👧👦 2 adults + 2 children
- 💼 Our travel agent commission
We booked our holiday package in January for travel in July, which helped us secure a much better price than booking closer to the summer season.
Tourism Tax
€46.20
This amount was not included in our package price and was paid directly at the hotel upon arrival.
In the Balearic Islands, the Sustainable Tourism Tax is charged per adult (children under 16 are exempt) and is generally payable for stays of up to seven nights.
Car Rental
Total: €356.61
We rented a car for the entire week and also booked it in January, taking advantage of early booking discounts.
For us, renting a car was essential because we explored beaches all around Ibiza, many of which would have been difficult to reach by public transport.
Fuel
€50.65
Considering we drove around the island almost every day, we were pleasantly surprised by how little we spent on fuel.
Parking
€7.82
The only paid parking during our trip was in Ibiza Town (Dalt Vila).
Most beaches and attractions we visited offered free parking.
Car Wash Before Returning
€6.00
Before returning the vehicle, we gave it a quick exterior wash as required by the rental company.
Food & Snacks
Total: €287.47
Since our hotel included breakfast and dinner every day, this amount covered:
- Lunches
- Ice creams
- Drinks
- Coffee
- Snacks
- Groceries
- Occasional treats while exploring the island
If you choose a half-board hotel, your daily food budget can be significantly lower than if you eat every meal in restaurants.
Activities
Total: €95.00
We didn’t plan an activity-packed holiday, preferring to spend most of our time exploring Ibiza’s incredible beaches.
Here’s what we paid for:
| Activity | Cost |
|---|---|
| Catamaran with slide (1 hour) | €25 |
| Kayak rental (1 hour) | €20 |
| Hotel arcade & game machines | €50 |
The kayaking and catamaran experiences were among the highlights of our trip and offered excellent value for money.
Shopping & Other Purchases
Total: €120.79
This included items we needed during the holiday:
- Snorkeling masks
- A summer dress
- Sunscreen
- Aloe vera gel after getting a little too much Ibiza sunshine
- Small essentials
These are expenses that many travellers forget to include when calculating a holiday budget.

What Did It Cost Per Person?
Our total trip cost was €3,770.54 for 4 people over 7 nights.
That works out to approximately:
- €942.64 per person
- €538.65 per family per day
- €134.66 per person per day
Considering we travelled during peak season (July) and stayed in a four-star beachfront hotel with half board, we felt this represented good value for money.
Could We Have Spent Less?
Absolutely.
Some easy ways to reduce the budget include:
- Travelling in May, June, September, or October.
- Booking flights and accommodation several months in advance, as we did.
- Staying in self-catering apartments instead of hotels.
- Skipping the rental car if you plan to stay in one area.
- Bringing your own snorkeling equipment from home.
- Preparing some lunches instead of eating out every day.
On the other hand, it’s also easy to spend much more in Ibiza if you choose luxury beach clubs, fine dining, or premium boat excursions.
Was Ibiza Worth the Cost?
For us, yes—without hesitation.
Ibiza offered much more than we expected. Beyond its famous nightlife, we discovered turquoise beaches, family-friendly resorts, scenic viewpoints, charming villages, and unforgettable experiences like kayaking along the coast and watching the sunset at Cala Benirràs.
Booking early helped us keep costs under control, and choosing a half-board hotel meant we could enjoy the island without constantly worrying about food expenses.
If you’re planning a family holiday and budget carefully, Ibiza can be much more affordable than many people imagine.
Final Thoughts
Hopefully, this breakdown gives you a realistic idea of what a one-week family holiday in Ibiza can cost during the busiest time of year.
Of course, every trip is different, but by sharing our actual expenses, we hope it helps you plan your own budget with confidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a family trip to Ibiza cost?
Our 7-day holiday for two adults and two children cost €3,770.54, including flights, accommodation, car rental, food, activities, fuel, tourism tax, and other travel expenses. Your total may vary depending on the season, accommodation, and travel style.
Is Ibiza expensive for families?
Ibiza can be expensive during peak season, but careful planning makes a big difference. Booking flights, accommodation, and car rental several months in advance helped us save money while still enjoying a comfortable family holiday.
How much spending money do you need in Ibiza?
For our family, we spent around €287 on lunches, snacks, drinks, and groceries during the week because breakfast and dinner were included in our hotel package. If you’re not staying on half board, you’ll likely need a larger daily food budget.
Is renting a car worth it in Ibiza?
Yes. Renting a car allowed us to explore beaches across the island at our own pace. It was one of the best decisions we made, especially for visiting quieter beaches and attractions that are harder to reach by public transport.
Can you visit Ibiza on a budget?
Absolutely. Travelling in the shoulder season, booking early, choosing self-catering accommodation or half board, shopping at supermarkets, and focusing on free beaches and viewpoints can significantly reduce your overall costs.
What was your biggest travel expense?
Flights and accommodation were by far our largest expense, costing €2,800 for our family package. Booking six months in advance helped us secure a much better price than booking closer to summer.
