Hotel El Paso PortAventura Review: Rooms, Park Access & Breakfast

We paid for every PortAventura stay ourselves. None of our hotel stays here have been hosted, and this review is from two nights at Hotel El Paso with our two boys.

Hotel El Paso in 30 seconds

  • Location: inside PortAventura World, with direct access to the park.
  • Tickets: unlimited PortAventura Park for your whole stay, plus one day of Ferrari Land per person.
  • Rooms: 26 m² for up to four. Ask for the bunk-bed layout if you have two kids.
  • Best for: families spending 2+ days in the park. For one day, a Salou hotel is cheaper (see PortAventura hotels compared).

What’s included in a stay at Hotel El Paso

All of this comes from PortAventura’s own site.

The Ferrari Land inclusion is the big change. It used to be a separate ticket you bought on top. Now it’s one day per person per stay, included. If you’re weighing an on-site hotel against a cheaper bed in Salou, that’s the number that moves the decision — four Ferrari Land tickets is not a small sum.

And the Express 10 catch matters. The free Express 10 — the queue-skip pass — comes with the Deluxe Superior Woody & Friends rooms, not the Standard rooms. So the two room types are a meaningfully different product, and the price gap between them buys you queue-skipping for two days rather than just decoration. Worth doing the maths on.

The hotel: Mexican, not Wild West

Hotel El Paso is 4-star, and it’s themed on Mexico — PortAventura’s own words are “inspired by Mexico”, built as a colonial-style hacienda.

The rooms

RoomSizeMaxBed configurations
StandardFrom 26 m²41 double + 1 folding bed · 1 double + 1 single sofa bed · 2 doubles · 1 double + 1 bunk bed
Deluxe Superior Woody & FriendsFrom 26 m²41 double + 1 folding bed · 2 doubles

So every room here is a family room. There’s no separate “family room” category to upgrade to, and no connecting rooms — the whole hotel is built around four people in 26 square metres.

Ask for the bunk-bed configuration if you have two children. It’s a Standard room option and it’s a much better arrangement than a folding bed wedged in beside a double.

The Woody & Friends rooms “reflect the fantasy world of Woody, PortAventura World’s mascot” and are “specially designed for the youngest family members”. Between the theming and the free Express 10, they’re the ones to look at with younger children.

Board options

  • Room only
  • Breakfast
  • Half board — dinner, drinks not included
  • Full board — dinner plus a lunch voucher you can use inside PortAventura Park
  • All Inclusive — available 13 May to 24 September only

The full-board lunch voucher is the one worth understanding. Eating inside a theme park is where a family day quietly doubles in cost, and a voucher that works in the park rather than only at the hotel means you don’t have to walk back out at lunchtime. With two children that’s both money and an hour of the day.

And note the All Inclusive season. If you’re going in October or at Christmas, it isn’t on offer.

One published rule that will save you an argument

“Restaurant reservations must be made before 12 pm for lunch and before 6 pm for dinner (subject to availability).”

So if you’re planning to eat at the hotel, book it in the morning. Turning up at seven expecting a table is how you end up at the snack bar.

Breakfast is a buffet at Mérida, the hotel’s main restaurant, which is split into themed rooms (a garden, a Mexican house with a fireplace, and the stables).

The pools

One adult pool, one children’s pool, and an outdoor cold-water jacuzzi — and they’re seasonal, open May to September.

Sun loungers and umbrellas are subject to availability, which is the usual resort-hotel code for getting down there early.

The restaurants and bars

  • Mérida — the buffet
  • El Coyote — table service
  • Bar Maya
  • Club Maya — snack bar
  • El Laberinto — bar and terrace
  • La Bahía — pool bar

Children, and what they cost

  • Under 2s stay free
  • Child rates apply from 2 to 12
  • Cots are free, subject to availability

Parking, and getting to the park

Parking is free, “subject to availability” — and that caveat is PortAventura’s own wording, so treat it as real rather than boilerplate.

What it costs

PortAventura’s own promotions list Hotel El Paso from €99 a night, and a hotel-plus-ticket offer from €65, bookable until 1 November 2026 for stays until 5 January 2027.

Is Hotel El Paso good for families?

Yes, if you’re doing at least two days in the park. The unlimited park access and the Ferrari Land day pay for a lot of the room price, you walk into the park instead of driving and parking, and the kids get back to a pool between rides in summer. For a single park day, or outside pool season (May–September), a Salou hotel plus a ticket usually works out cheaper. We compared the three we’ve paid for in PortAventura hotels compared.

So: on-site or Salou?

The honest answer is that it depends on how many of you there are and how long you’re staying, and the maths is now more favourable to the hotel than it used to be.

Stay on site if: you want unlimited park access across the whole stay rather than day tickets, you’d have bought Ferrari Land tickets anyway, you want to go back to the room mid-afternoon, or you’re taking the Woody rooms and would have paid for Express passes.

Stay in Salou if: it’s one day in the park, there are only two of you, or you want to be at the beach and in restaurants that aren’t inside a resort.

PortAventura with kids: the park itself · Ferrari Land · Tarragona is fifteen minutes away, and it has a Roman amphitheatre above a beach

Inclusions, room sizes and board options verified at portaventuraworld.com, September 2026. The hotel’s seasonal calendar is not machine-readable — check before booking a winter stay.

Frequently asked questions

What does a stay at Hotel El Paso include?

Unlimited access to PortAventura Park throughout your stay, one day’s admission to Ferrari Land per person per stay, free parking subject to availability, and the ability to stay in the park until closing on your checkout day. A free Express 10 queue-skip pass — one per person, valid two consecutive days — is included with Deluxe Superior Woody & Friends rooms only; Standard rooms get discounts on Express products instead.

Is Ferrari Land included when you stay at a PortAventura hotel?

Yes — one day’s admission per person per stay is included at Hotel El Paso. This changed from how it used to work, when Ferrari Land was a separate ticket, and it makes a real difference to the maths when you are comparing an on-site hotel against a cheaper bed in Salou.

How big are the rooms at Hotel El Paso?

Both room types are published as from 26 m² with a maximum of four people. Standard rooms come in several bed configurations including one double plus a bunk bed, which is the one to ask for with two children. Deluxe Superior Woody & Friends rooms are the same size and come with the free Express 10. There is no separate family room category and no connecting rooms — the whole hotel is built for four people in 26 m².

Is Hotel El Paso Wild West themed?

No — it is themed on Mexico. PortAventura describes it as inspired by Mexico and built in a colonial hacienda style, and the restaurant names bear that out: Mérida, El Coyote, Bar Maya, Club Maya, El Laberinto and La Bahía. One of PortAventura’s own pages describes it loosely as western themed, but the hotel page is explicit.

Does Hotel El Paso have all inclusive?

Yes, but only from 13 May to 24 September. Outside those dates the options are room only, breakfast, half board with dinner but no drinks, or full board — and full board is worth a look because the lunch element comes as a voucher you can use inside PortAventura Park rather than having to walk back to the hotel.

Is the pool at Hotel El Paso open all year?

No. There is an adult pool, a children’s pool and an outdoor cold-water jacuzzi, and they are seasonal, open May to September. Sun loungers and umbrellas are subject to availability, which in practice means getting down there early.

Is parking free at Hotel El Paso?

Yes, free and subject to availability — that caveat is PortAventura’s own wording rather than small print, so do not count on a space at the busiest times.

Do you need to book the hotel restaurants?

Yes, and earlier than you would expect. PortAventura publishes the rule as reservations before 12pm for lunch and before 6pm for dinner, subject to availability. If you plan to eat at the hotel, sort it out in the morning.

How much does Hotel El Paso cost?

PortAventura’s own promotions list El Paso from €99 a night, with a hotel-plus-ticket offer from €65, bookable until 1 November 2026 for stays until 5 January 2027. Treat those as lead-in rates for the quietest dates rather than what you will pay in August.

Is Hotel El Paso open in winter?

PortAventura’s hotel calendar is not published in a readable form, so we cannot confirm a season. The indirect signals suggest it is open over Christmas — the current hotel-plus-ticket promotion covers stays until 5 January 2027 — but the pools run only May to September and All Inclusive only from 13 May to 24 September. Check the calendar on PortAventura’s own site before booking a winter stay.

Did you pay for your stay at Hotel El Paso?

Yes. We paid for every PortAventura stay ourselves; none of our hotel stays there have been hosted.
