Gran Hotel Luna de Granada – a hotel to remember, review.

On our trip to the South of Spain, we chose to stay in Granada and Malaga, with Sercotel Hotels, update 2024, this hotel is not Sercotel anymore. This chain has a total number of more than 150 properties worldwide, and it was a first experience to us to stay in their hotels.

REVIEW OF Gran Hotel Luna de Granada, GRANADA, SPAIN.

Why? There is some time, I wanted to visit Granada, Malaga and at least 1 of the white villages (Pueblos Blancos), that are so famous in Malaga region. So, when we had a proposal to collaborate with Gran Hotel Luna de Granada, I choose both hotels from Granada and Malaga.

Without further ado, here is how our stay at the Gran Hotel Luna de Granada, went:

GETTING TO Gran Hotel Luna de Granada

We arrived at the airport in Granada from Barcelona, earlier in the morning. Usually, I like to take these flights in the morning, as I think we can enjoy more time on the place.

Firstly, when we booked flights, I thought on renting a car. But then, talking to friends and colleagues who already went there, all of them said that renting a car there, is not the best option. And the reason is quite simple, as in many cities, there is always a problem to park the car. So, we took a local bus, that rides from the Airport of Granada to the city. Our stop, in the city, was very close to the hotel. It took around 30 minutes and really I don’t have much to add to it!

ARRIVAL AND CHECK-IN AT THE Gran Hotel Luna de Granada

The hotel is a big hotel, and has 368 rooms. Around the hotel are some beautiful green area where you can sit and relax. As we arrived earlier than the time of check in, Tatiana from reception helped us with taking care of our luggage and explained what we can do in the hotel and around. Meanwhile, our room will be ready to enter. It was a nice touch.

I knew, that the hotel has a swimming pool. When I asked if we can make use of it, Tatiana told that of course, and explained where we can change and enjoy it. Actually, the hotel has 3 swimming pools. 1 indoor, that is in use all year around, and then 2 outdoors swimming pools, 1 for kids and another for adults.

It was a much needed rest by the pool after having an earlier flight, and getting to hot weather of Granada. And I am not exaggerating. In that day, in Barcelona we had as much as 24 Celsius degrees, and in Granada at 11.00 am it was already 32 Celsius degrees. Not to say that kids loved so much pool time, that they don’t really need any museum.

After 2h by the pool, we get back to reception to make the check-in. Check-in was quick and efficient and that set the tone for the rest of the stay. The staff were excellent from beginning to end. We were offered a brief tour of Granada and where we can eat around. Then we went directly to the room.

OUR FAMILY ROOM AT THE Gran Hotel Luna de Granada

Kids couldn’t wait too much to enter the room, as I prefer to enter first, to take pictures and then they can enter. But, it was not the case hahaha.

We entered all together, and kids couldn’t stop staring and sharing their positive emotions about the room. Once entering the room, was the furniture, where we could leave our things. Then, it was the sitting area, with sofa bed. Sofa bed was already prepared for kids. On the right, it was our room, with amazing queen bed. Bathroom was close to the room.

Here to say, the bed was so comfortable, as we didn’t really want to get out of bed each morning.

I took quite a few photos so I could share this room in all its glory and I don’t really have much to add. All the details were considered – yes there were plugs everywhere and by the bed.

Everything was in perfect working order. We did not turn on the TV because we never do. But, kids couldn’t decide on the same channel, so there came Marc and asked permission to watch his channel on our TV.

As well, I shared all the details about the hotel on Instagram Stories, I saved those in highlights. So, you can watch them wherever you want.

OUR BATHROOM AT THE Gran Hotel Luna de Granada

One thing I really liked was that the bathroom has a bathtub. I know, many people prefer walk-in shower, and say that bathtub is old fashioned, but we really love it. Kids enjoy the bathtub so much, that it doesn’t matter the hour of the day, they are ready to jump in. Well, me too :). As well, having some relaxing me time.

In terms of toiletries, I always travel with my own, but kids and hubby enjoyed those.

THE POOL AT THE Gran Hotel Luna de Granada

The pool was that place, that we loved to come back every day, in one of the days even twice. With the hot weather that is in Granada, coming back to the hotel and jumping into the pool, was a real blessing. Not to say, kids, loved playing by the pool, it was difficult to get them back to the room from the swimming pool.

I think that when it comes to go to the cities without beach, it is a must to choose a hotel with a pool.

KIDS AREA AT THE Gran Hotel Luna de Granada

Another place, where kids enjoyed playing a lot, was kids area at the hotel. Actually, the hotel offers the full service. I mean, you can leave kids and there is staff who will take care of them. But, in our case this is not working. Our kids, are not used to stay alone. And we had to stay with them at kids area. So, after the pool, it was our second most beloved place.

THE FOOD AT THE Gran Hotel Luna de Granada

We had breakfast included in our room rate, and if we hadn’t, I really would have objected to paying it. Hotel, as well offers lunch and dinner meals in the hotel. You just have to ask for it previously. We had a buffet breakfast, and it was easy for us, as kids could choose whatever they wanted.

FINAL THOUGHTS

We loved this hotel – I honestly couldn’t ask for more. The service, kids area, pool area it was nothing short of perfect.
