As far as you know, I have a special love to islands, when it is time to choose our next holidays. It is true, that I also love city-breaks, and cultural time out, but unfortunately with kids, is easier on an island, and on the beach, than in a big city.
Because, summer is just around the corner, and only 3 weeks left. I propose you a special plan for your holidays for this summer. Below, I propose 3 European islands, that we really love, and for sure will come back.
MENORCA
Menorca is the island we discovered later in September of last year, and it couldn’t be better. The timing we choose, was perfect in terms of money, weather and quietness. We payed maybe ⅓ of price that you would pay during July or August. The weather was still fine, the water was warm and we could enjoy beach time a lot. As in September, kids go back to school, there were few people traveling on the island with kids.
During May, June, July, August, September and maybe first days of October you will have guaranteed sunshine and warm water. We enjoyed the most, hopping from one turquoise beach to another. This is what we really advise you to do while on the island. Of course, consider renting a car, easier to get wherever you want.
COMINO BLUE LAGOON & GOZO (Maltese islands)
I would say these islands to combine in one trip. Blue Lagoon is if you are looking for some spectacular beaches, like Maldives. Here you will find those, and will enjoy the view of it.
On Blue Lagoon, nobody lives, so you can take day trips from Gozo island or Malta island. Apart of the beach, you can also enjoy the natural caves on the water, S P E C T A C U L A R.
Gozo is the island where we stayed with our kids last May, it is more cultural island. The biggest beach is Ramla Bay. From here we travelled to Blue Lagoon, and enjoyed the most beautiful beach. Gozo itself is very tranquil island. Tourists aren’t aware of it, so the people you will really see, are locals.
LANZAROTE
Lanzarote is where is guaranteed sun and beach time all over the year. Every year it gets just busier and busier, as lots of tourists come to discover the island. For beach time it is just lovely, but be prepared that it is windy.
Kids and us enjoyed the tour with Lanzarote Experience Tours, and our guide Cristina, who showed us all the beauty of this island. There were just wowing moments all day long, wherever Cristina took us.
Anyway, we recommend you to have a ride on camels, get to el Mirador del Rio, and of course visit the National Park of Timanfaya.
If you have any other special love for another European Island, we would love to know more.

Hi James,
Mayjo is the oldest company there, and the best of it, they can come and take you from the airport, check this out https://travelfamilyblog.com/experience-mayjo-car-hire-review
We didn´t drove in Malta, only in Gozo, and as it super small island, it was easy enough.
Hope it helps
